It Starts with the Video Element

The Video Element is at the core of the Craft Camera. There are 2 Video Element models to choose from. Sharing the same body, connections, and accessories makes it easy and cost effective to operate both models. The Video Element can be used independent of any accessory or it can be built out as a full cinema camera. On its own, the Video Element is perfect for studio and live environments such as a house of worship, corporate settings, concerts, or TV where on board recording isn't necessary. Additionally, you can remotely use it as a compact action camera. Use it with your existing accessories or use our additional Elements to add recording, professional audio, extended battery life, full display, and control capabilities.

HD Video Element

Starting with a Super 16mm sensor with resolution of 1920 x 1080, the HD Video Element produces stunning images. It operates at high speeds up to 120fps. Key features include 13 stops of dynamic range, global shutter PL, EF, and MFT Speed Mount options, and ND Sled filter technology.

4k Video Element

The 4K Video Element is identical in size to its HD sibling but houses a Super 35mm sensor that produces images at 4096 x 2160 and high speed rates at 120fps. It is a production ready cinema camera in a small package. Key features include 13 stops of dynamic range, global shutter, PL & EF Speed Mount options, and ND SLED.

Video Element Features

Back Lit Control Display

The side display allows for independent operation of the menu and overlays when configured with additional accessory Elements.

Intuitive Camera Controls

Easy to use side facing controls work in a Single-Element configuration or in parallel to other controllers in a Multi-Element configuration.

Professional Connections

Craft Camera provides the outputs you rely on including SDI and a full size HDMI connection. Use our tether port to ensure cable and connector safety at all times.

add additional elements

It's yours—design it the way you want. Adding accessory Elements to your Craft Camera is fast. Easy. Seamless. Elements are added or removed in seconds which allows the system to be configured to fit your particular needs. Transition a single camera from a fully built cinema camera or to a lightweight action camera in the same time that it takes to swap out batteries.

Store Elements

You can add recording to your Video Element with familiar formats like ProRes and CinemaDNG. The Store Element provides faster workflows and redundancy using CFast media. Record CinemaDNG format on one card while simultaneously recording a ProRes proxy on the other which decreases the post workflow time when dealing with CinemaDNG. SSD version is coming soon.

Audio Element

Your camera expands its audio capabilities when you add the Audio Element. Features include 2 mic inputs with phantom power, balanced analog output, and 1/8” stereo headphone jack for monitoring.

Power Element

The Power Element uses the same Craft Camera Battery which means you don't need to buy a different type of battery. Use a single Craft Camera Battery on the back of an Element or two batteries by using the Power Element.

LCD Element

The flip LCD can be oriented to match the position you are holding the camera. The entire LCD Element can be mounted between any Element. This allows for better balance, extended viewing angles and preferences.

Handle element

The Handle Element can control any part of the camera at any time. Core camera functions such as recording and lens control are just one button away. The entire handle can rotate 180º providing a more comfortable position when shooting extreme angles. The Handle can be attached utilizing our proprietary control interface called Control Link. The handle can connect to all the Elements excluding the Display Element.

ND Sled

Say goodbye to carrying around different ND filters for different lenses. The ND Sled is a major innovation for camera technology. It is a mechanical device with two separate glass filters which provide 3 ND options. The ND Sled can be installed or removed at any point. Purchasing a Craft Camera to be used in a studio environment won’t need a ND Sled, however, if shooting outside is a regular occurrence then it is highly recommended.

Speed Mount

Need to swap EF lens and MFT lens in between two shots? The Speed Mount provides a quick and easy way to mount different types of lenses to one camera…with no tools! Our Speed Mount technology functions similar to heavy tripod mounts using high grade materials to keep your camera and lens tight and safe. Every 4K and HD Video Element ships with 1 Speed Mount of your choice MFT, EF, or PL. Purchase additional Speed Mounts to match your lens type if needed.

Control Link

The Control Link is the communication port that communicates to the Handle. It’s expandable which allows other devices to communicate with the Craft Camera. There are 3 additional Control Link accessories: Ethernet, Serial with LANC, and Wireless Transmitter. These can be used in place of the handle or along side when mounting it to additional Elements. Control the Craft Camera over Ethernet in a studio setting, use the Serial with LANC on a jib or stabilizer, or use the Wireless Transmitter for long distance mobile app control.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are all the technical specifications?

At this time, we are only publishing a few technical specifications. We hope to publish our final manufacture and testing specifications in early summer.

Exactly how does the reservation work?

The reservation is simply a $500 deposit that holds your place in line. On the day we tell you it is time for you to fully purchase a Craft Camera, your deposit will be deducted from your order.

Who will get the camera first?

Orders will be fulfilled in the order they where placed. First come first served. No exceptions.

Is there a limit to the number of reservations I can place?

No. We don’t have a limit at this time, however, we do reserve the right to cancel and limit orders if it is abused.

How many reservation spots are there?

There is a cap of the total number of early reservations. We are not publishing the number but we will announce on our website when it is full.

Can I purchase Craft Camera from other retailers?

Not at this time. You will only be able to purchase Craft Camera from our website.

Can I get a refund on my reservation?

We wish you wouldn’t but it's not a problem. Send an email requesting a refund on your reservation with your name and order number to orders@craftcamera.com. A few things to keep in mind though, once a refund is processed, it is final. You will lose your place in line. If you decide to place a new order later, we can’t guarantee reservation pricing and you will go to the back of the fulfillment line. Lastly, we will be offering future products and accessories to our original reservation customers before general customers as a thank you. You will lose that benefit if you want a refund.

Can a reservation be transferred to another person?

No.

Purchasing a camera and accessories.

At this time, we are only accepting early reservations. The reservation is not a purchased product rather it acts as a deposit on a future transaction and will be applied to that future transaction. As a reservation holder, you will have the opportunity to customize and build your Craft Camera when the final product is ready. At that time, your reservation deposit will be deducted from the total price when you check out.

How will the 10% discount and other discounts be applied.

No discounts are applied during the reservation period. All discounts will be applied at the time of purchase of the final product. We will send you a unique coupon code that can be used one time. That coupon code can be applied in the checkout window. The 10% discount will be applied to the current published prices.

Shipping in December? Really? Seriously?

Yes, shipping in December. Well sort of. We will be shipping our first units in December. With that said, we cannot guarantee this for your order. A lot of factors will determine your actual ship date including but not limited to the total number of reservations placed and your number in the reservation line. Also, any unforeseen manufacturing shortages, and of course natural disasters and/or acts of God could change things.

Where is Craft Camera made?

Craft Camera was conceived, designed, and developed by Craft Digital Systems Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia but manufactured outside of the United States.

I'm skeptical of Craft Camera. It’s New!

Fear not. We get it. New products like hot yoga is not for everyone. We know you will come around and when you do we will be here.
